Let's take a moment to share why storytelling is so central to this work.
EMC was born out of our shared belief in the power of storytelling—not just to inform, but to heal, to connect, and to liberate.
For generations, Black and melanated peoples have used stories to pass down wisdom, preserve culture, and resist systems meant to silence us. Our stories are our survival. Our stories are our strategy. And our stories are ours—to tell, to shape, and to honor.
When we tell our truths, we reclaim what’s been stolen or ignored. We make space for others to do the same. And we remind each other: you’re not alone.
This work—our work—is rooted in personal loss, ancestral memory, and a deep desire to break cycles that were never meant for us to carry in the first place.
So as you listen to our stories today—about grief, growth, struggle, and transformation—we invite you to think about your own.
Because this isn’t just about Julian and me.
This is about all of us.
For us, this work isn’t just a passion—it’s bloodline-deep.
Healing Stories
Real Reflections from Real People
We believe that healing isn’t linear — and it’s not always easy to talk about.
But when we speak our truths, even anonymously, we help others feel less alone.
Whether you’re just beginning your journey, deep in the process, or reflecting on what you’ve learned — your story matters. Share as little or as much as you’d like. We’ll never ask for your name or contact info.

“After my first experience, I finally felt like I could exhale. For the first time in a long time, I saw myself clearly — and with love.”
