Doug Geers’ album Love Paint is a “concept album” of electroacoustic music works, sequencing a number of relatively brief pieces together to form a single musical statement, in the same spirit as Pink Floyd albums from the 1970s (Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, etc.) and works by other artists. In Love Paint, six micro-compositions of 1-2 minutes duration sit between larger pieces, acting as segues to both connect and transition from composition to composition. The album’s works were chosen and sequenced to create a kind of sonic journey that is both diverse and coherent, and will be just the thing for music lovers who find excitement in the works of both Aphex Twin and Iannis Xenakis.
